Dearest Goddaughter (LTR-20)

Dearest Goddaughter,

In today's Gospel, our Lord tells us to "Stay awake!" As I reflected on this, I am reminded of the song in the original Disney movie - "The Lion King" - and the song "Be Prepared" that Scar and the hyenas sing. We must always be prepared to give an accounting of our lives because we will all one day stay in judgment before the throne of God. We do not know when, only God knows when. Thus, it is prudent for us to be prepared to meet our Lord every single day of our lives.

How? Obey God's commandments, first and foremost of which is to love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. We do this by attending Mass every Sunday. Period. No excuses. We frequent the Sacraments. We pray. We visit our Lord, truly present in the Eucharist, in Adoration and spend time with him (holy hour). We do whatever it takes to foster a relationship with our Lord and our God, in times of consolation but, especially, in times of desolations. We do not have to go at it alone. We have our family, friends, and faith/parish community to help us. We have Mother Mary and the communion of saints in heaven to intercede for us. We are not alone and, when we need help, we only need to ask our Lord Jesus Christ and he will help us. When we do this, when we will love our neighbors as God loves them and we serve God and serve others.

Therefore, dearest goddaughter, in all that you do in life (school, activities, etc.) remember to always put God first and foremost. Go to Mass. Pray. Pray. Pray.

Love,

Bỏ Phúc

P.S. These are the readings for the day: 1 Thes 3:7-13 and Mt 24:42-51.
